This is our predicted timeline. We learned quickly with first adoption that these things change all the time and for no real reason. It can be exciting like when you expect to travel in 2 months only to find out it's in two weeks! Sadly most of the time it's frustrating and there are so many unknown delays. So for today this is out timeline.
First we have to get our home study updated saying we are fit parents to adopt. Once this has been completed we can submit our paperwork to INS for approval to adopt a forgien child. This approval which consists of getting our fingerprints cleared by the FBI is currently taking 120 days in our state :( 3 years ago this took 45 days. Once we have our I-171H (INS approval) we can submit our Dossier. The Dossier consist of all our paperwork that the Vietnam embassy requires for us to adopt. Once that is submitted the estimated wait for a referral is 6 months. Once we receive our referral the travel is about 2 months later. We could spend up to 3 weeks in Vietnam though most of the time is it shorter. So as you can see this process can take at least a year. We are hopeful that things will speed up but there are really no guarantees.
Below is where we are in the stage. Warning it is not very far along :)
June 30th submitted INS paperwork (120 day wait begins)
July 1st Home study Completed and send to INS
Waiting, Wating, Waiting.
